How to reuse and revamp Christmas decor

Transforming your Christmas decorations into stylish home decor

How to reuse and revamp Christmas decor

We have decked the halls, tinseled the tree, hung our stockings and wrapped presents a plenty. With all the time and effort we put in each year to decorate our homes, it would be a shame to just put it all back in a box once Christmas day passes.

So as the big day arrives, we can try to be a little more conscious of what we can reuse rather than throwing or storing it away, particularly non-recyclable products. With so many ways to revamp your Christmas decorations and reincorporate them throughout your home, we’d love to share our favourites!

Fairy lights

Fairy lights don’t have to be packed away with the Christmas tree! Whether they have a warm glow or feature pops of colour, there’s plenty of ways to reuse the pretty twinkling lights. Consider popping them into a glass vase or bowl to create a statement light feature - it’s a great way to set the mood in any space. With a little more effort you could spell out a message on your wall or outline a mirror for a wow-factor effect.

Baubles

Baubles are so versatile and can be pieced together alongside your standard home decor. Place them in your pauperie bowl for added texture and shine, or add them to a pot plant or basket. Match your baubles with colours around your home for each season. Our chess baubles feature a modern black and white aesthetic, perfect for all-year-round use.

Wrapping Paper

Wrapping Paper

While you may assume that wrapping paper is recyclable, due to the lamination and plastic dye used, most often they’re not. An estimated 227,000 miles of wrapping paper is thrown away each Christmas, which is incredibly wasteful. So instead of adding to that pile, we could get a little creative! Try shredding the paper to make confetti for New Years Eve or a birthday party. If you’re feeling brave, you could line desk drawers or bookshelves for some added colour in your home.

Empty Wine Bottles

Avoid the usual trip to the recycle bin with boxes of bottles in hand, instead you can create some staple decor pieces in some small and simple steps. With just a few strokes of paint you can turn a bottle into a painted vase or add a candle to the stem and Voila… you have some beautiful rustic candlesticks for your dining table.

Give the gift of a better future

Making eco-conscious changes to your festive traditions doesn’t have to be a struggle . Just take a moment to consider what you’re excessively buying and throwing away over Christmas and find ways to make your festivities friendlier for the planet.

Have you thought about ways you can make a difference in your household?
