Ring Size Chart

Protsaah rings are handmade, so sizing matters more here than it does on a machine-made band. Two minutes with a ruler now saves an exchange later. If anything is unclear, write to hello@protsaah.com and Salonie will help you choose.

Two kinds of fit

Protsaah rings come in two constructions, and they are sized differently. Each product page says which kind it is, in the Details section under Size.

  • Adjustable rings have an open band. You choose your letter size, then press the ends gently together or apart so the ring sits where you want it. Each letter covers two European sizes, so the fit is forgiving.
  • Sized rings are closed bands in fixed European sizes. They cannot be resized afterwards, so the measurement below is worth your time.

Adjustable sizes

Letter Fits European sizes Inside diameter
S 50 to 52 15.9 to 16.6 mm
M 52 to 54 16.6 to 17.2 mm
L 54 to 56 17.2 to 17.8 mm
XL 56 to 58 17.8 to 18.5 mm

Most adjustable rings come in S, M and L; a few are also made in XL. The product page lists the sizes available for that ring.

Open and close an adjustable ring with your fingers, slowly, holding the band rather than the stone. Silver and gold-plated silver will take this many times over. Avoid flexing it back and forth in the same sitting more than you need to.

European ring sizes

The European size is simply the inside circumference of the band in millimetres: size 54 measures 54 mm around the inside. US and UK equivalents are approximate, given here for reference.

European Inside diameter Inside circumference US (approx.) UK (approx.)
50 15.9 mm 50 mm 5¼ K
51 16.2 mm 51 mm 5¾ L
52 16.6 mm 52 mm 6 L½
53 16.9 mm 53 mm 6½ M½
54 17.2 mm 54 mm 6¾ N
55 17.5 mm 55 mm 7¼ O
56 17.8 mm 56 mm 7½ O½
57 18.1 mm 57 mm 8 P½
58 18.5 mm 58 mm 8¼ Q

Method one: measure a ring you already own

This is the more accurate of the two, and the easier.

  • Take a ring that fits the finger you have in mind, and that sits the way you like.
  • Measure straight across the inside of the band, edge to edge, in millimetres.
  • Find that figure in the inside diameter column above. If you land between two sizes, take the larger one.

Method two: measure your finger

  • Cut a strip of paper about a centimetre wide, or use a length of string.
  • Wrap it round the base of the finger, snug but not tight, and mark where it overlaps.
  • Lay it flat and measure to the mark in millimetres. That number is your European size.
  • Check that the strip passes over your knuckle before you commit to it.

Before you measure

  • Time of day matters. Fingers are smallest in the morning and after cold weather, largest in the evening and in heat. Measure late in the day, at room temperature.
  • Measure the finger you will wear it on. The same finger differs between hands; on most people the dominant hand is slightly larger.
  • Mind the knuckle. If your knuckle is much wider than the base of your finger, size up to clear it, then consider an adjustable style so the ring does not spin.
  • Wide bands sit tighter. On a band of five millimetres or more, half a size up is usually more comfortable.

Still unsure?

Write to hello@protsaah.com with the ring you are looking at and we will help you choose. If a sized ring arrives and the fit is wrong, contact us within the return window and we will exchange it for another size where stock allows.
