Carnelian Hexagon Drop Statement Earrings · Gold

Carnelian was the signet stone of Rome because hot wax does not stick to it. It is a warm burnt orange, amber-toned, translucent, with light in it. Here a hexagon-cut carnelian sits in an open-backed gold collet, with a large open hexagon below, its flat band hand-brushed to a soft satin.

Reach for it when the outfit is plain and the earrings are the whole story. The frame is open, so the size costs you nothing in weight. Big shape, light on the ear.

• Burnt orange that lifts navy and denim
• Big open frame that weighs almost nothing
• Smooth push-back post, steady all evening

Handcrafted by master silversmiths in Protsaah's own workshop in Jaipur, where every maker is paid 30 to 40% above the local market rate.

Carnelian is a warm orange that sits closest to warm or olive skin and picks up brown and hazel eyes, where it reads as a brighter note of the same warmth. Dark and auburn hair hold the colour best.

For cool or fair tones, iolite or amazonite in the same hexagon drop statement gives the same presence in a cooler key. Not sure? Write to us at hello@protsaah.com and Salonie will recommend your stone personally.
