Chalcedony takes its name from Chalcedon, the ancient port facing Byzantium, prized by Roman carvers for cameos. Aqua chalcedony is a milky aqua blue, translucent, and gold brings out its teal undertone. Here a small oval faceted aqua chalcedony sits in a gold collet between two rounded bubble shoulders on an open band with ball tips, so it slides to fit.
