Topaz takes its name from Topazios, an island in the Red Sea where the ancients mined a green stone they called by the same name. Blue topaz is a bright clear sky blue, transparent. Here a round rose-cut blue topaz sits in a formed silver collet, its faceted dome rising above the rim, and in silver it reads icy and bright.
