Carnelian was the signet stone of Rome because hot wax does not stick to it. It is a warm burnt orange, amber-toned, translucent, with light in it. Here a carnelian is cut as a pyramid, four triangular facets rising to a point, set in an open-backed collet above three cascading open kite frames in hand-brushed gold.

Reach for it when you want an art deco line rather than a round drop. The frames narrow as they fall, so the eye travels down. Pyramid above, kites below.
