Onyx takes its name from the Greek word for fingernail, and Roman carvers cut it for cameos. Green onyx is bottle green with a lighter heart. Here a green onyx is cut as a pyramid, four triangular facets rising to a point, set in an open-backed collet above three cascading open kite frames in hand-brushed gold.

Green onyx is a deep, cool green that suits cool or neutral skin and picks up green, hazel and grey eyes, where it deepens the colour rather than matching it. Dark brown and cool brunette hair give it the contrast it needs.
