Chalcedony takes its name from Chalcedon, the ancient port facing Byzantium, prized by Roman carvers for cameos. Aqua chalcedony is a milky aqua blue, translucent, and in silver it runs cooler and slightly greyer. Here a smooth aqua chalcedony cabochon sits in a silver collet left open at the back so light passes through, on a satellite chain whose tiny beads glint along the neckline.
Reach for it when you want a pendant with more going on. The satellite beads glint along the chain, and at the centre the milky blue glows rather than sparkles. Milky aqua on a chain that works.
