Pink chalcedony takes its blush from traces of manganese, the rarest colour in the chalcedony family. It is a pale blush pink, translucent and milky, given a faint warmth by gold. Here a cushion-cut pink chalcedony square with softened corners sits in a shallow gold collet that barely rises past the girdle, so the stone reads almost flush with the lobe.
Reach for it when you want colour without height. It disappears under a phone and turns up in every photo, and the blush reads quiet rather than sweet. Pale pink, squared off, worn daily.
