Chalcedony takes its name from Chalcedon, the ancient port facing Byzantium, prized by Greek and Roman carvers for cameos. Aqua chalcedony is the milky aqua blue variety, translucent, glowing from a pale core. Here it sits in a multi-prong silver crown, pierced into small arches under a beaded rim, and in silver the blue deepens and runs slightly greyer.

Reach for it when you want to cool an outfit down without shouting. The colour is a milky aqua blue, cooler in silver than in gold, running to the same temperature as the metal. Cool colour, quiet setting.
