Peridot was mined on Zabargad, an island in the Red Sea, and some of the emeralds credited to Cleopatra were probably peridot. It is a bright lime green with a yellow cast, transparent. Here a round rose-cut peridot sits in a formed gold collet, its faceted dome rising above the rim, and the gold deepens the yellow in the green.
Reach for it when you want a green with some sun in it. Face on it is a clear lime disc in a gold rim, and it lifts white, navy and denim without trying. Lime green, gold edge.

Peridot is a warm lime green that sits closest to warm or olive skin and picks up brown, hazel and green eyes, where it reads as a lighter, sunnier note of the iris. Dark brown, auburn and golden blonde hair hold it best.
