Labradorite takes its name from Labrador, where Moravian missionaries recorded it in 1770. It reads grey-blue, with a teal and bronze flash that moves with the angle. Here a six-sided labradorite hexagon is held by six small gold claws over an open-backed collet, so the facets sit raised and lit from behind.

Reach for it when you want a stone with edges rather than curves. The claws keep the metal thin, so the colour does the work. Grey-blue, cut to six sides.

Labradorite is a neutral stone, so it sits well on most skin tones and picks up hazel, grey and green eyes, where the blue flash reads as an echo of the iris. Dark brown and cool brunette hair frame the grey base best.
