Lapis lazuli was ground into ultramarine, the blue painters once paid more for than gold. It is a deep navy blue with gold pyrite flecks, opaque, and silver sharpens the blue. Here a smooth lapis lazuli bead swings from a large flat-wire silver hoop whose hook loops through an eye behind the ear, so the circle closes and stays closed.
Reach for it when you want a big hoop that weighs almost nothing. The flat wire keeps it light, and at the bottom of the circle the navy sits sharp with its gold flecks. Navy on a hoop that closes.
