Jade has been carved in China for five thousand years, and nephrite was the stone of the imperial workshops. This is a pale apple green, mottled with lighter cloudy patches, with a waxy lustre and translucent at the edges. Here a round rose-cut nephrite sits in a formed gold collet, its faceted dome rising above the rim.
