Opal takes its name from the Sanskrit upala, precious stone, and the Romans ranked it above every gem but the emerald. Pink opal is a soft milky pink, opaque, with no flash. Here a run of small faceted pink opal stones, each in its own gold collet, follows the curve of an open hoop on a push-back post, colour all the way round.

Pink opal is a soft, cool pink that sits best on cool or fair skin and picks up blue, grey and green eyes, where it reads as a quiet warmth beside them. Blonde, light brown and silver hair keep it delicate.
