Topaz takes its name from Topazios, an island in the Red Sea. Blue topaz is a bright clear sky blue, transparent, icy and bright in silver. Here a cushion-cut blue topaz square with softened corners sits in a shallow silver collet that barely rises past the girdle, so the stone reads almost flush with the lobe.
