THE CONFLICT

"Tibet today is one of the most repressed an closed societies in the world."

China invaded Tibet in 1950. After more than 60 years of occupation, Tibetans still resist China's rule and defy its oppression. Tibetans are regularly snatched from the street or their homes and then locked away in secret after sham trials, they are called the hidden prisoners.

THE CRAFT

"Inspired by geometry and colours of the eight auspicious symbols of Tibetan mythology."

A melange of contemporary sterling silver jewellery, designed in Zurich, handcrafted by women artisans from the Lhasa Valley - Tibet's heartland.

Available in 22kt Gold / Rose Gold plating with semi-precious stones.

THE ARTISANS

We started our project with just 7 women - wives & mothers to the hidden prisoners. After over three years, we are proud to state that we have over 10 women working in our project and supporting their families with pride.

THE CONFLICT

"Berlin Wall of the East" caught between two besotted regional nuclear superpowers prepared to kill and die over this "Paradise on Earth".

The world's longest running conflict zone is frozen in time sind 1947. Kashmir is witness to and victim of Indo-Pak wars, unabated militarized violence and terrorism for many decades.

THE CRAFT

Inspired by the pristine ski-hamlet in Kashmir. Pure pashmina handwoven by artisans from the Kashmir valley - Pashmina's birthplace.

From combing the underbelly, to spinning and dying the yarn for the most skilled weavers, master stencillers and talented embroiders, only the hand of passionate Ladakhi Chang-pas (herdsmen) and craftsmen have touched these creations.

THE ARTISANS

We started our project in 2013 with just 4 weaving families and now support almost 17 families.

Since we started, we have initiated embroidery training for young women and are proud to have supported to young men (former dissidents) to join our project as weaver, stenciller and dyer.

THE CONFLICT

The Rwandan genocide is one of the heaviest moments in human history. An organized campaign of violence resulted in the slaughter of almost 800'000 Tutsis and Hutu moderates, in a carefully organized program of genocide over 100 days, making history as the quickest killing spree the world has ever seen.

THE CRAFT

For centuries, weaving of "Agaseke" - sisal & sweet grass baskets - has been passed down through generations.

Today, these colourful yet elegant handwoven peace baskets have come to be a symbol of Rwanda's newfound peace - overcoming past differences to work together towards a brighter future.

THE ARTISANS

Scathed by and rising from the horrors of brutal ethnic genocide in 1994, women were left ro provide for themselves, their families and the countless orphans left in the destruction's wake. Many banded together to form artisan cooperatives.

Our collaboration partners - All Across Africa, support us to produce our collections at multiple cooperatives totalling 70 artisans and growing!
