Smoky quartz is the cairngorm of the Scottish Highlands, cut for kilt pins and brooches since the eighteenth century. It is a translucent smoky brown, darker at the heart, and silver keeps it cool. Here a faceted smoky quartz teardrop sits in a slim silver bezel and hangs from a plain wire hook, so it swings as you move without a sound.

Smoky quartz is a warm brown that sits closest to warm or olive skin and picks up brown, hazel and amber eyes. In silver the pairing cools toward charcoal, which suits ash blonde and cool brunette hair as well.
