How we turn pre-loved products into treasured new pieces

PROTSAAH are proud to be Europe’s first circularity-focused jewellery brand.

We are committed to sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint. Our recycling policy is designed to make a positive impact on the planet while also being economically responsible.

One crucial aspect of this policy involves collecting defective or returned items and repurposing them into new, high-quality products.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to our recycle and remake program, why it’s so important, and how it’s making a difference.

1) Collection and Assessment

Nothing is ever discarded at PROTSAAH, whether it’s a returned product from a customer or an item that we’ve identified as being defective. We see promise in and a future for every element of a piece that might otherwise be wasted.

Instead, they are collected and brought to our recycling centre. We then assess each item to determine its condition and the extent of any defects. Items are then sorted for either repairs or repurposing.

2) Disassembly and Salvaging

If we judge that items can be repurposed, they go through a careful disassembly process. Parts such as gemstones, chains, or metal components that are in good condition are salvaged and set aside.

By salvaging and not discarding these components, we reduce the need for new materials and reduce waste in the process. Which all feeds into our vision for a more environmentally aware future.

It’s also a great way to honour the time and effort our artisans have put into creating stunning items from their component parts - every one as key as the workers.

3) Material Reuse

The salvaged materials are then reintegrated into our production process. For example, silver from returned items is used to make new products, and gemstones are repurposed into new designs.

We ensure that a material that can be used again for a new piece. We see the value in everything and nothing is too small to be given a second chance in a brand new, beautiful item.

This approach not only minimises waste but also reduces the demand for new raw materials, which has a direct positive impact on the environment.

4) Product Transformation

This is the most magical stage of our recycle and remake program. Once materials are sorted, they are used to create new products. This is part of our commitment to design collections that can last through the generations, with minimal impact on the planet.

Imperfect components are repaired or refurbished to meet our quality standards. These are usually the parts that need a little extra love. This process not only reduces waste but also allows us to extend the life cycle of materials and products, reducing the need for new manufacturing.

As a result, many of the products you see on our website will contain parts that have been given a second chance to shine and be loved by you.
