Smoky quartz is the cairngorm of the Scottish Highlands, cut for kilt pins and brooches since the eighteenth century. It is a warm brown, somewhere between dark honey and woodsmoke, and silver keeps it cool. Here a brushed silver triangle holds the lobe and a round cushion-cut smoky quartz hangs beneath on a jump ring, faceted front and back.
Reach for it when you want the softness of a round stone against a sharp stud. The triangle keeps it from reading sweet, and the smoke reads as a deep neutral. Smoke, round below, angles above.
