Onyx takes its name from the Greek word for fingernail, and Roman carvers cut it for cameos. Green onyx is bottle green with a lighter heart. Here a faceted green onyx teardrop hangs in a slim gold bezel from a chain fine enough to disappear, with three fixed rings at the clasp for three lengths.
