Smoky quartz is the cairngorm of the Scottish Highlands, cut for kilt pins and brooches since the eighteenth century. It is a warm brown, somewhere between dark honey and woodsmoke. Here a faceted smoky quartz teardrop hangs in a slim gold bezel from a chain fine enough to disappear, with three fixed rings at the clasp for three lengths.

Reach for it when you want one stone at the collarbone and nothing else. The chain vanishes, the teardrop reads alone, and the smoke reads as a deep neutral. Smoke at the collarbone, worn every day.

Smoky quartz is a warm brown that sits closest to warm or olive skin and picks up brown, hazel and amber eyes, where it reads as a deeper note of the same warmth. Dark brown, auburn and golden blonde hair hold it best.
