Chalcedony takes its name from Chalcedon, the ancient port facing Byzantium, prized by Roman carvers for cameos. Aqua chalcedony is a milky aqua blue, translucent, and gold brings out its teal undertone. Here a brushed gold square holds the lobe and a large cushion-cut aqua chalcedony hangs below on a jump ring, faceted on both faces.
